Stevedoring activities are carried out to the highest standards utilising modern plant and machinery ensuring safety and speed of service. We also have our own on site weighbridge and computerised stock control. Storage & DistributionCalport Ltd currently have 50,000 sq. ft of first class bulk/unitised covered storage (Gafta/AIC Approved) and 45,000 sq. ft open storage at our disposal. All storage facilities are within the Port Estate. In addition we have plans to increase the storage capacity by a further 45,000 sq. ft which we hope to have completed by the end of 2009. Within the group we have access to an integrated transport fleet, both bulk and flat bed, for onward distribution. Ships AgencyOur long-standing partnership with Kinnes Shipping Ltd allows us to tap into their comprehensive agency service including freight forwarding and customs clearance. Between the two companies we ensure the needs of the customers and the ships are looked after. AcquisitionCalport has operated in Perth for well over 40 years. Previously owned by a large PLC company, the business was purchased in June 2008 by two local businessmen (and brothers), Angus and Simon Howie. With this change in ownership, it has given the business the much-needed hands on, fast acting and forward thinking local management team to support the operations of the company and provide an improved and adaptable service. Over the coming months and years the company plan to invest in the infrastructure in Perth Harbour to improve storage capacity and the scope of services offered to customers.
